Suicaine Gratification Vinyl
Suicaine Gratifaction is the third solo album from former Replacements frontman Paul Westerberg, originally released in 1999. Stark, soulful, and unguarded, it captures the songwriter at his most personal and self-reflective. Compared to his earlier solo outings, Suicaine slides deeper into melancholy and regret, with Westerberg exploring themes of failure, grace, and perseverance through songs that balance weary humor with naked sincerity. Regarding the album's peculiar title, Westerberg said, "I don't want to think about it too deeply other than the fact that it seems wrong, and therefore it's attractive to me."
Co-produced with Don Was, a longtime admirer who sought to preserve the intimacy of Westerberg’s demos, the album feels lived-in and human, intentionally underproduced to let its rough edges and imperfections breathe. The result is one of Westerberg’s most revealing works—a quietly devastating portrait of an artist taking stock of himself.
This edition was mastered for vinyl by Kevin Reeves at East Iris Studios and features a jacket design with emboss/deboss detailing faithful to the original CD digipak.
