Blowout Comb - Capitol Record Club Exclusive
$51.00
Digable Planets’ landmark 1993 debut, REACHIN’, established Butterfly, Ladybug Mecca and Doodlebug as three of hip-hop’s most original new voices. But it was the following year’s BLOWOUT COMB that became their defining masterpiece. Expanding their visionary, sample-based sound with rich, live instrumentation and guest appearances from contemporaries including Guru and Jeru the Damaja, the trio pushed into darker, denser, and more politically direct territory. The lyrics became more pointed, confronting oppression and political struggle while capturing vivid snapshots of life in Brooklyn. Equally celebratory and uncompromising, BLOWOUT COMB remains one of the era’s defining recordings and one of hip-hop’s most enduring cult classics.
This release includes non-album tracks from the original recording sessions, including a bonus 7” featuring the newly discovered track, “Land of Mu.”
