By the summer of 1996, the world had finally caught up with Butthole Surfers. Their album Electriclarryland introduced the band to a wider audience through the unlikely radio hit “Pepper,” while remaining unmistakably their own: a volatile mix of punk rave-ups, freak rock and surreal singalongs, populated by the degenerates, dreamers and assorted weirdos that only this band could conjure.

This expanded edition adds four rare recordings from the Electriclarryland era: “Hybrid,” originally issued as a non-album track on international editions of the “Pepper” single; the soundtrack contributions “Pottery” and “Whatever (I Had a Dream)”; and the previously unreleased “Valuable Charcoal.”
